Healthy Juice Works Music Wonders: white plains - what you are king

Okay, so it's been a while since I've posted but never mind that's the busy life of a musician. I wanted to say something about my new record company which is called CarrotJuice and the reason it's called carrot juice is that it goes back to a song that I loved as a kid and it was a song by a group called White Planes. And they recorded on Deram. That’s important because it is surely one of the prettiest 45rpm labels of the era. And at some point. I managed to get hold of the single very early on I think my sister might have bought it. And the single was called When You Are A King. On their video on YouTube you can check it out. I'll put a link down below.

Basically there's a line in it which talks about being a kid at school. So I could relate to it. I mean I must have been very young, six or seven. And they talked about shoe black on your face but I what shoe black was but it was about this mucky kid who was always getting into trouble but someone older who's the narrative person in the song is saying that. you will one day be a king. And that you will have carriages to take you anywhere which, in my pre psychedelic haze I reimagined as carrot juice to take you anywhere

And for years that's why I thought that it was carrot juice to take you anywhere… turns out it wasn't, it was carriages to take you anywhere but

I've always thought that  if I ever write a biography, which I probably won't because I'm too busy and I'm not really very famous. But if I was to write it, I think that would be the title carrot juice (to take you anywhere)

you can check out the video on the link below. YouTube it's a bit naff of course we didn't really see the videos in those days if you saw a video it was once and then you never saw it again and even a major feature film you only saw five years after the film came out and then you'd have to wait another year or seven for the thing to come around a second time.

Was that better ? Things are very different now obviously and we can't go back. But there will always be a little element of nostalgia about me and about what I write. So I just can't help myself.

so check out the video …it's very naff t…someone had the bright idea to put a crown on the lead singer. Wow, that must have taken a lot of thought. I think  White Plains were sort of assembled by  the London studios and there was a well-oiled machine that could get records up the charts pretty efficiently provided, of course, you had a decent song. Just pop down to Denmark st, get the right outfit together, throw up the right kind of promotion, contact your TV mates and get it flying Up The Charts but with all that said and done  I still love the song.

I think it's probably their best song. And it's called When You Are A King

…so go over and check it out and all power to White Plains we still love you very very much.
